A Sad Day
This past Saturday, February 23rd, we had to say goodbye to our fur-baby   Boomer was 13 years, 9 months old.  He was the best dog I've ever had.  He was my shadow, following me wherever I went.  He had all the qualities you would love in a dog;  he loved to wrestle and play with Ken and then he would cuddle and be the best lap dog with me.   He was so smart too, we had an assortment of toys, but you could tell him to bring a specific toy and he would.  Boomer had started developing tumors, roughly 6 months ago and they had continued to grow.  The past week it had really gotten difficult for him to walk and he had stopped eating.  Ken had been out of town, so I did my best to care for him alone.  I was the one to pick up Boomer from the breeder on his first day home.  I had a sunken living room floor and that little puppy couldn't make it up or down that one step.  So, he would stand and cry for me to help him up and down.  I told Ken I had a full circle moment the day we had to have put to sleep.  I had to carry him outside and then back inside because he was not able to climb the steps on the deck, just like that little puppy on his first day.  It was one of the hardest decisions we've had to make.  The kids and I said goodbye that morning which was very hard, and then Ken had the hard part of taking Boomer to the vet.  We absolutely LOVE our vet, and he was so gracious with Boomer.  We miss him terribly and he will always be our first baby!
