The American Dream
In my life, I have worn many hats: daughter, sister, student, teacher, wife, mother, and princess.
DAUGHTER - I have been blessed to have two amazing parents who are committed to God, to each other, and to the upbringing of their children and grandchildren.
SISTER - God gave me two terrific sisters. They were my playmates when I was young, and now they are my best friends. They are both wonderful mothers and devoted wives, and I consider both of them mentors for my own life.
STUDENT - I was fortunate enough to attend private school through the tenth grade, and then to attend a outstanding Christian university. Both of which were made possible by many sacrifices on my parent's part.
TEACHER - I spent 10 years teaching in the public school classroom. It was at times fun, challenging, stressful, and frustrating. Despite the challenges, we are however, a country that educates EVERYONE. No matter race, religion, ability, handicaps, or financial differences we are a country that says everyone is entitled to an education.
WIFE - Eight years ago, I married my best friend. A man that loves the Lord with all his heart. A man that begins everyday expressing his devotion to that relationship through prayer and Bible study. I am fortunate to have someone with which to share this amazing life.
MOTHER - One of my most favorite hats to wear is "Mommy". After many years of infertility, the Lord has graced us with not just one, but two wonderful lives to guide. I am awed everyday at the gift of my precious Kennedy and sweet Paxton. They are one of the greatest joys of my life.
PRINCESS - Yes, I said Princess, I am after all a daughter of the King. I live in a country that affords me the freedom to openly serve and worship my God. A freedom of religion that is free from persecution.
After watching the DNC this past week, and hearing over and over again how George W. Bush and the rest of the Republicans have killed the American Dream, I am appalled. Is our economy weak at the moment, yes, is our reputation with foreign countries marred, maybe. Is the American Dream dead? NO. We still have people through-out this world who would trade places with anyone of us at a moments notice to enjoy the freedoms we enjoy. My life is not the responsibility of George W. Bush or any political party, and my savior is definitely NOT Barak Obama nor John McCain. My help comes from the Lord!!!
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Freedom in Christ, that is the AMERICAN DREAM!!!!!
(Isn't that the reason our country was founded after all?)
