Zoo Trip
Okay, the title of the post makes me miss Zookini's in Lubbock (random thought). We had a great weekend. We headed out Thursday afternoon and stopped in Tulsa to see Uncle Eric, Aunt Bonnie, and Quincy. They had not met Paxton yet, so they got to see him for a bit and it gave us a nice break in the drive. Also, Kennedy always loves to see her cousin, Quincy. After a short visit, we headed down the road to Norman to stay with Gege and Poppy. We got up very early Friday morning and headed to the zoo. Summer hours started at 7:30 and we were there pretty close to that time. It was a beautiful day, the weather was only in the 80's and the sun stayed behind the clouds most of the day. We were able to see the new addition to the zoo "Oklahoma Trails" it was very nice. They had a barn along the trail that was filled with owls, bats, a skunk, a possum, flying squirrels, and some other nocturnal animals. We did not get to see the elephants, one animal Kennedy was looking forward to, they have moved to Tulsa while their building a new exhibit for them. They are also building a new Children's zoo, so we will have to hit that next year when it is completed. I will have to say the train was a bust. It was fun, but it was very small and it made many many stops. I think Kennedy was expecting more, because she thinks she hasn't gone on the train yet. Ken said he may have to take her to Eureka Springs to ride a real train. Kennedy's favorite animal this go around were the snakes, go figure! She really liked the herpaterium and there was an exhibit on the "Oklahoma Trails" that had a rattler which she really liked. We left the zoo around 3:00 and Kennedy crashed in the car before we got to the interstate. We spent the remainder of the weekend visiting with Ken's family. Poppy even let Kennedy drive his ATV cart. Good thing he was near by, a tree managed to jump in her path. It was a great weekend, and apparently we missed all the rain and gloomy weather at home. Get ready for picture overload!

The zoo is full of these wonderful statues. Kennedy wanted to take a pic with this one, but it was very HOT, so she is balancing on the tip of a lions tail. There was peacock and her babies roaming the zoo, Kennedy was fascinated by them.A little leary of the leopard.Riding the carousel.Mommy and sweet Paxton.Kennedy and the Galapagos turtles. Does Scout need a friend Papaw?Kennedy and Daddy with the elephant statue.Using her zookey to get info about the animals.
Looking at the birds at the "Oklahoma Trails" exhibit.

Bats in the Barn exhibit. (They were neat to see, but pretty creepy as well.)

Loving the snakes.

Finally, the train.

Ready to go!

At least Paxton liked it!
