National Lampoon Goes to Nana & Papaw's
Oh what a week we had. I warn you now, this is probably going to be a LONG post, so continue with caution. Last Wednesday, we had planned on flying to my parent's house. My father was celebrating his 60th birthday on Friday and Mom had planned a great surprise party. Seeing as we would be flying out of Tulsa, we needed to leave a few hours before our flight in order to give us plenty of time for parking and check-in. The car was loaded and Kennedy was sporting her Hello Kitty backpack and we were headed out the door. I look down at my phone and I had a voicemail coming through, it's the airline, our flight was canceled. NOOOOO! So, I immediately call the airline to see what we can do, and the only accommodation they can make was to get us out the next morning. I hesitantly tell Kennedy we are going to have to wait another day - she goes to pieces. I mean, total meltdown. Fortunately, my sister-in-law lives in Tulsa, so we decide we will head to Tulsa anyways, stay the night, and know that Kennedy seeing her cousin would take her mind off of things. About 30 minutes down the road my father calls and they can get us on a flight out that night, so plans change yet again and we head to the airport. We made it to Corpus, crisis averted.
The following day was my birthday; Dad and I have celebrated our birthdays together for many many years. So we had a yummy family birthday dinner out, followed by wonderful presents and cake. It was great! Since we had celebrated birthdays on Thursday, Dad did not suspect a thing on Friday his actual birthday. Mom had planned a surprise party at a local restaurant, and she flew Dad's brother in to surprise him, it was a great night. Saturday was spent watching Upward basketball and cheering, and enjoying a Whataburger (I miss those). And then comes Sunday.
Here is were our trip takes a turn for the worst. As already explained in the previous post - Kennedy fractured her leg at church on Sunday. If that wasn't enough Monday night, before we were suppose to leave on Tuesday I get the stomach bug. I was up all night sick, so flying the next day was out of the question. My sister, Sarah, was a great help and watched the kids all day Tuesday, while I recuperated. Dad took us to the airport on Wednesday morning, only to be pulled over and ticketed in the terminal line. We finally made it to the gate, minutes before taking off. The flight was great, very calm and uneventful. Landed in Tulsa, thanks to my brother-in-law for helping us get to our car and on our way. Headed straight to the orthopedist, and got Kennedy her bright pink cast. Finally, home thinking 'Man this has been one wild ride'. Only, it wasn't over just yet.
Ken was actually flying out of Tulsa while we were landing, so we were still on our own for a couple of days. Thursday I accidentally left my phone in the car, so when Ken tried to call of course I did not answer. Around 9 pm I get a knock on my door from two local police officers. They ask if my husband is "Ken Wilson"? Of course, my mind goes to the worst, only Ken had called the police and asked them to stop by and check on us since he could not get a hold of me. Ken made it home on Friday, after a small delay. We are all happy to be back together and we are ready for a drama-free weekend!
Since I don't believe in blogging without either pictures or some sort of graphic, here are some highlights from all our fun.
I love that Kennedy & Paxton have the same exact look on their face.

Hey Jennifer!
It's Laurie Niebuhr from FCN Lubbock! I found your blog via Kayla's blog and I hope you don't mind if I follow it! Your kids are absolutely adorable!! Sounds like you had a crazy weekend and I can't believe poor Kennedy has a cast!:( Gavin when he was a little squirt jumped off the couch and broke a bone in his foot. He had a cast also...no running in the halls, no jumping off couches!! Crazy huh?
It's wonderful to see how good you and your little fam are doing! I look forward to blogging with you!
