How Beautiful is the Body of Christ

I love the song "How Beautiful" by Twila Paris, but it has taken on a whole new meaning after this past week.

How beautiful when humble hearts give,
the fruit of pure love so that other might live....
How beautiful the feet that bring
the sound of good news
and the LOVE of the King.
How beautiful, How beautiful, is the body of Christ.
It has been such a privilege to see just how beautiful the body of Christ is that past week. My family has been LOVED on by so many people in so many diverse ways that it is amazing, overwhelming, and inspiring. I have so much to post about this past week, but I wanted to begin this series of post expressing gratitude to so many. Starting on Sunday, I was loved on by so many in my home church, I cried with people who have never met my sister or her husband, but because of their compassion they were hurting with those who hurt. On Monday, morning of this past week, a sweet friend, Megan called me and told me that my sister's connection groups at church wanted to fly me and the kids to Corpus so that I could be with my family during this difficult time. It was such a tremendous blessing to say the least. Ken and I had been trying to decide what we were going to do, and had offers from sweet friends to watch the kids for me if I needed to travel without them. I was so torn as to wanting to be with my sister and leaving my kids behind. It was such an outpouring of love. At the same time across many miles others were giving of their resources to fly Gary's sister and his parents to Corpus as well. Meals have been brought to my family, cards have been sent, prayers have been lifted, and the list goes on. I will be posting more on the memorial service and various events of this past week, but I wanted to begin by thanking so many for all they have done for our family this past week. You truly are the BEAUTIFUL body of CHRIST.
