NOLA - Part 1
Last week, Ken had a meeting in New Orleans and he really wanted the kids and I to tag along. My first response, was to not go, but after talking with a friend from NOLA, I decided we would go. It was fun, the kids got to experience some neat things, but I think I'm okay if I don't go back anytime soon. We stayed downtown near Ken's meeting and in the French Quarter - that would be one thing I would change if I went back again. Most of the places I took the kids were within walking distance, however I didn't always feel safe walking the sidewalks with two small kids. I would be interested in going back with just Ken and doing a plantation tour and a swamp tour, but I think I would definitely pass on taking the kids again. The first day we went to the Aquarium of the Americas. This was a lot of fun, and it had some neat exhibits. It didn't take as long as I thought it would so we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming at the hotel.

Not sure why an aquarium had a parakeet exhibit, but this was probably the kids favorite part of the exhibit. They got to feed the parakeets and the birds were very comfortable with people. At one point I had three lined up perched along my arm. Kennedy was a little upset that they would not land on her arm, but she was moving a little to quickly for the birds.

So, yes I understand that is odd that I am taking pictures of a public restroom. However, when you frequent restrooms as much as I do with two little ones, I find little things like this exciting. First was this super cool hand dryer. It was low enough that it didn't scare my kids by blowing them away. The second was this stool under the sink. It is about time someone equips a bathroom sink for the use of little ones. It was a nice break not having to hold each child up to reach the soap and the sink.

This was in the shark exhibit and I thought it was really neat. Our Connection Group recently studied Jonah and this sign basically says that "the great fish" that swallowed Jonah was most likely a shark. Mainly, because sharks have the ability to eject large objects from their stomachs, something which whales cannot do. Interesting!
Baby Albino Alligators, and a BIG ONE.
