Swimming Lessons

Kennedy took swimming lessons this summer for the first time. We have put off lessons for a while, because I wanted her to take them when she could actually learn strokes and skills rather than "water awareness". She is has spent every summer in the pool since she was two so she is pretty secure in water awareness. She did so good; I was so proud of her and all her hard work. We chose to take lessons through Red Cross rather than private, and I was very pleased. There were only three kids in their class and they had two instructors. Lessons ran for 2 weeks so she got a lot of individual attention. The last day of lessons they spent time in the deep pool, going down the slide and jumping off the diving board. She did great, she went down the slide into 11 feet of water and swam to the side of the pool by herself. She also jumped off the diving board to her instructor and then swam to the side of the pool by herself. Unfortunately, she now thinks she is invincible - I gotta keep an extra eye on her.
